Ae Dil Hai Mushkil REVIEW: Ranbir Kapoor as Ayan is endearing while the wait for Aishwarya gets longer

Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been one of the most awaited movies of the year. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma, the film’s teaser, preview and tunes have been a hit amongst the crowd. After a lot of controversies, ADHM has finally hit theatres today. Our Editor Tushar Joshi is viewing the movie at a multiplex right now and has sent us the first impression of the movie.

Tushar says, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s first half is exceptionally chatty and messy, in the sense that the emotions of its key characters Alizeh played Ayan and by Anushka Sharma played by Ranbir Kapoor are around the place. Love is naturally the essential theme of the storyline. Love between friends, love between lovers and that unrequited love of an ex-boyfriend. Karan Johar does a fantastic job of ensuring the dialogues keep you engaged and that the pace never slackens. Ranbir is excellent in the very first frame. There are ample references to pop culture favourites and pictures we have developed watching and loving, a few are Karan’s own.

The psychological connect between Alizeh and Ayan suffers a massive setback when Ali enters the story. Fawad Khan plays the plot is given a serious overtone by Anushka’s ex boyfriend whose return. When they realise they can’t be jointly the fun and banter between Alizeh and Ayan change into a feeling of loss and heartbreak. The first half has several moments that seem borrowed from a couple of other movies namely Tamasha. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan fans will be disappointed because her entry occurs only in the second half. The music helps in keeping the first half breezy, especially the foot tapping on ‘Breakup Song’. Here’s expecting that there’s more of Aishwarya and Fawad in the portions post time. ”
