Illumination Entertainment’s Minions, about small, yellow and cylindrical, creatures, is officially the second-highest grossing animated film ever after launching to US $20.1 million in China.

The large China advent pushed the film’s international gross to US $748 million, reported Ace Showbiz.

Using the US total of US $332 million, the Universal movie, which is a prequel/spinoff to the Despicable Me franchise, raked in a total of US $1.08 billion world-wide.

Disney’s Toy Story 3 formerly held the second position at US $1.06 billion. Immobilized (2013) is still holding strong to its top position with US $1.28 billion.

Minions will add to its amount when it opens on September 24 in Greece.

The animated movie’s box office success contributes in 2015 to the complete triumph of Universal.

The studio has a productive year thanks to Pitch Perfect 2, Angry 7, Straight Outta Compton, Jurassic World, and Fifty Shades of Grey.
