America’s Got Talent is won by British ventriloquist Paul Zerdin

British ventriloquist Paul Zerdin has won America’s Got Talent.

The 43-year old Londoner said he was “absolutely speechless” and “bowled over” to defeat nine other acts in the closing.

Two other British acts, Stevie Starr – the Professional Regurgitator – and magician John van der Put, who performs as Piff the Magic Dragon, also made it through to the closing 10.

Zerdin wins almost £645,000  and the opportunity to have his own show in Las Vegas, USA.

After his performance in the closing on Tuesday, judge and former Spice Girl Mel B said: “You Are a nicely polished act, you are perfect.”
