The older brother of pop singer Celine Dion, Daniel Dion, expired from throat cancer, just two days following the departure of the entertainer’s husband, Rene Angelil, on Saturday.
The representative Kim Jakwerth of Celine Dion released a statement that Daniel Dion, 59, died on Saturday surrounded by his family after fighting cancer for a number of years.
The statement said he expired in a palliative care center in Terrebonne, Quebec, outside Montreal.His departure was announced only two days following the 73-year old Angelil perished in suburban Las Vegas after an extended battle with throat cancer.
Angelil was Celine Dion’s supervisor for decades, forming her from a French-speaking Canadian ingenue into among the planet ‘s most successful vocalists, best known for the smash hit My Heart Will Go On,’ the theme from Titanic.
The family is “recalling a tender and reserved man of numerous gifts”, the statement said. Daniel Dion, the dad of two daughters, was the eighth of 14 Dion kids.
