Yesterday, star choreographer Matthew Bourne was among those honoured at the UK Theatre Awards – the ceremony for theatre created outside London.
Bourne said The Stage was a great time for dancing in Britain right now, and was granted it Award for exceptional contribution to British theater.
Bourne explained: “We have got a few of the greatest choreographers on the planet here as well as the most fascinating new work, along with shows like Just on TV and musicals like Billy Elliot which have motivated average individuals to enter dancing.
He also revealed he is adapting a timeless movie for the stage – but wouldn’t disclose which one.
“It is according to a well-known British movie about dancing, about a ballet company. Individuals can estimate.”
