Brazil ‘MASS RAPE’ issue: Seven suspects to be charged

A minor and six guys are to be charged in Rio de Janeiro after raping a 16-year-old girl and posting video and graphics on the internet, authorities say.

The case shocked Brazil and led to demonstrations by women’s groups.

Police investigator Cristiana Bento said among the primary pieces of evidence was the telephone with which the record was made.

The inquest determined that now under state protection, now under state protection, was raped in two different incidents, Ms Bento added.

They could face up to 15 years in jail for rape, eight years for making the images and six years for sharing them, Ms Bento said.
