At least 26 people were killed and over 60 others injured when two buses collided in Pakistan‘s eastern state of Punjab on Monday morning.

The event occurred when a speeding passenger bus collided head on with another bus coming in the opposite direction near Dhareeja railway crossing near Khanpur.

One ill fated bus was traveling from Karachi to Faisalabad while the other bus was bound from Faisalabad for Sadiqabad.

Saving teams promptly arrived at the scene and shifted the bodies and persons that were injured in Khanpur to Tehsil Headquarter hospital.

According to physicians, some bodies are beyond acknowledgement.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident and directed the authorities to supply best medical facilities.
