David Cameron has warned “we must prepare yourself for a number of British victims” after almost 130 people perished in “savage” assaults in Paris.
The UK PM, who convened a Cobra emergency response committee meeting on Saturday, said Britain’s terror threat level remained at “acute”, but the Paris attacks would prompt a review.
He also said “however much we prepare, we in the UK face the same danger”.
The French people were told by him: “Your pain is our pain, your fight is our fight.”
Mr Cameron included: “The terrorists’ objective is clear: it’s to divide us and to ruin our way of life. So more than ever we ought to come together and stand united and carry on with all the way of life that we adore.”
The Foreign Office said it was “urgently inquiring” whether any British nationals have been caught up in the Paris episodes.
It said individuals with worries about friends or British relatives should call 0207 008 0000.
