Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Miss USA Olivia Jordon and Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach made it to the top three contestants. However, comic Steve Harvey, the host declared Miss Columbia as the victor and read his cue cards erroneous. Afterwards, realising his error, he declared that Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, initially named the primary runner up, had really won the pageant!

Our next #MissUniverse, meet Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach!

Steve Harvey afterwards took to Twitter to apologise for his error –

I would like to apologize undoubtedly to Miss Columbia and Miss Philippians. This is a very reliable error that is person and I’m regretful.

But poor Steve continued his run of gaffes by spelling of both nations incorrect! (Another reliable person error, we presume!)
