Actor Sidharth Malhotra has come out in support of his co-star Fawad Khan, in the face of Shiv Sena seeking a ban on Pakistani musicians performing in Maharashtra.
The 30-year-old “Hasee Toh Phasee” performer is working with Fawad in “Kapoor & Sons”, which likewise stars Alia Bhatt.
“Everybody gets the independence to work. Kapoor has been working with us for a while now. Sons believe imagination crosses boundary,” Sidharth told reporters here at the opening ceremony of the 17th Jio MOTHERS Mumbai International Film Festival.
Lately, Shiv Sena had said it would not permit performer, cricketer or any Pakistani actor to step on the land in Maharashtra.
Seeking a prohibition, the party targeted Pakistani actors like Mahira Khan and Fawad, that want to obtain a foothold.
Meanwhile, Sidharth praised Fawad’s rumoured girlfriend Alia’s latest on-screen outing “Shaandaar”, regardless of the movie largely getting negative reviews.
“I saw ‘Shaandaar’ and I loved it. It is a fantastic film.”
The Vikas Bahl-directed romantic-comedy also starred dad Pankaj Kapur and Shahid Kapoor.
