Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has piled praise on Pope Francis, hours following his Christian religion was challenged by the pontiff.
The Pope had said Mr Trump’s suggestion to create a wall on the US boundary with Mexico had not been Christian, evoking a powerful reply in the businessman. But hours after, in a town hall event in South Carolina, the billionaire resort developer was more conciliatory.
Republican voters in the US state can make their presidential pick in days.Mr Trump directs the South Carolina surveys and he took into a period in Columbia on Thursday evening to answer questions on national television.
When asked about his row together with the Pope, he explained he wouldn’t describe it as a fight, although he afterwards said he did not enjoy fighting with him.
