A rare chance to see the northern lights as far south as the Midlands, if the clouds are kind because a massive solar storm is underway.

There will be a stellar geomagnetic storm that would cause a natural fireworks show across much of the UK. The storm was raging across the northern hemisphere. The Met Office said

According to the NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center, the storm might be at just one category below the highest possible strength rating a G4.

A pair of coronal mass ejections – expulsions of vast amounts of matter from the sun is the reason of the storm which occurred in quick succession. Ionized particles interact with the magnetic field around Earth’s poles and now causing huge auroras in the northern and southern hemispheres, as the first CME ‘cleared the path’ for the second.

The elusive phenomena of nature was sighted as close as Nebraska, the prospect sure was exciting while on Tuesday night there was a widespread episode of the northern lights didn’t materialize in the skies over Colorado.

Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin are the place in the United States to see the Aurora Borealis with the naked eye on Tuesday night and But there were reports of sightings as far south as Delaware County, Ohio.
