Former Miss Austria Ena Kadic perished from injuries sustained within a mountain fall while jogging in her home state of Tyrol, authorities said on Tuesday.
The 26-year old had experienced a critical condition after plunging off the side of the Bergisel mountain on Friday close to the town of Innsbruck. Two pupils detected the severely wounded girl close to the Drachenfelsen (Dragon rock) panorama stage overlooking the Sill river’s steep ravine. Shortly after hitting the ground, Kadic were able to call her brother before losing consciousness and notify him of the accident, authorities said. Kadic was rescued by helicopter and taken to a hospital in Innsbruck, where she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday. The exact circumstances surrounding the accident remain cloudy, but authorities said the 2013 beauty competition winner was an avid runner who knew the place well. Some 115 people perished and 2,385 were injured in the Austrian alps between May and September, according to latest figures.
