An Istanbul-restricted flight of Turkish Airlines taking 332 passengers on board was called back in the runway at Mumbai airport on Monday morning after an ‘unclaimed’ mobile phone was located on a seat of the Boeing 777 airplane, delaying the take off by over four hours.
The Boeing 777-300ER airplane, that was scheduled to take off for Istanbul at 6.50 am, left for its destination at around 11.30 am, sources said.
He explained after mandatory security tests were carried out, the plane continued its flight.
Following a cell phone was located on among the seats the aircraft was brought back to the bay and most of the passengers were deplaned to get a comprehensive frisking.
“Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul was called back in the runway at Mumbai airport following a suspicious item was discovered in the aircraft,” a MumbaiAirport representative had said before.
