The small-known Cambodia International Film Festival is finding a star-powered increase in 2013 .

The Hollywood star, who’s now in Cambodia filming her latest film, will serve as president of the honorary committee of the festival, coordinators said.

“Cambodia’s rich history, long culture and talented people mean it has a huge amount to offer the region and the world,” Jolie Pitt said in a statement issued Tuesday by the festival. “I’m proud to support the Cambodia International Film Festival and Cambodia as a home for vibrant and innovative filmmaking.”

Festival advisor Cedric Eloy, head of the Cambodian Film Commission, said Jolie Pitt’s job would provide moral support and help “bring awareness of the revival of the Cambodian film industry.”

The regime executed filmmakers, writers and artists within its own Maoist vision transform the united states into an agrarian utopia and to get rid of the educated elite. More than 1.7 million people perished under the regime.
