LOS ANGELES: Music magazine Billboard named Lady Gaga woman of the year after a 2015 that found her tour with Tony Bennett station Julie Andrews at the Oscars and emphasize the issue of school sexual assaults.

Gaga was selected because she’s been “a vital powerful figure who drove the dialogue” this year, said Janice Min, who manages Billboard as co-president of parent company Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group, in a statement on Tuesday.

“There’s no girl controlling popular culture preferences and its own development just as much as she’s now,” said Min.

The “Born This Way” vocalist gained roaring applause and societal media acclaim for belting “Sound of Music” melodies in the Oscars ceremony in February.

Next week she’ll reach tv displays in a leading part on FX’s “American Horror Story.”Gaga, 29, will likely be presented together with the honour in a Billboard service in Nyc in December that will probably be shown live on national television for the very first time.
