LATEST! ‘El Chapo’ returned to Mexico Altiplano prison


Caught Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman will be taken back to the maximum-security prison from where he escaped six months past.

He was paraded before cameras as he was bundled into a helicopter that was marines in central Mexico to Altiplano prison.

He escaped from there through a tunnel dug in the showers in July.

Guzman was detained in the town of Los Mochis in his home state of Sinaloa – which he had come to rule through the substances cartel he directed.

During an early-morning raid on Friday, he managed to flee through a drain but was later captured by marines amid a shootout.

Six people, including one marine, are reported to have already been killed.

Later on Friday Attorney General Arely Gomez told reporters: “Guzman Loera is going to be taken again to Altiplano”, some 90km (55 miles) west of Mexico City,
