Kate Winslet’s new drama The Dressmaker appears set to dominate the Australian variant of the oscars. The British star has won a nod for Best Celebrity ahead of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, and she’s going to go head to head for Mad Max: Fury Road, with Charlize Theron.
The Dressmaker acquired nominations for Judy Davis and Sarah Snook, while Hugo Weaving will vie for Best Supporting Actor who both will compete for Best Supporting Actress, along with the movie also scored nods among others.
Post apocalyptic experience certainly will go head to head with The Dressmaker for prizes including Best Direction, and also score big with 11 nominations, together with the George Miller taking Jocelyn Moorhouse on of the film. Both movies will also battle it out for the coveted Best Film prize in addition to Holding Paper Planes, Last Cab To Darwin, and The Guy.
Kate Winslet’s costar Sarah Snook, who also appears alongside the performer in new drama Steve Jobs, has also acquired a mention in the TV classes, winning a nod for Best Lead Actress In A Television Drama for The Secret River. The prizes will be handed out on 9 December at a ceremony in Sydney, Australia (15).
