A metropolitan magistrate’s court here today acquitted Bollywood celebrity Preity Zinta in a cheque bouncing case filed with a script writer. “Zinta was acquitted in the case filed by script writer Abbas Tyrewala,” said her attorney Hitesh Jain.
Jain said he contended in the court that Zinta gave the cheque to Tyrewala to the undertaking which he wouldn’t deposit it without telling her, a contention that has been accepted by the magistrate, who acquitted her.
Ms Zinta’s counsellor told the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate that: “On the exact date the cheque was issued, there was no obligation on the performer for it.” The counsellor said the work that the cheque was issued wasn’t completed and thus the sum was unaccounted for.
The charge was filed in 2013. Keep watching this space for more updates with this narrative.
