Oscar season is here and Pakistan has it’s contribution ready “Manto”

Carrying out a full house show in the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival (DCSAFF) last month, Sarmad Sultan Khoosat’s biopic Mantois now headed to screen at leading varsities in Columbia, Harvard, United States and Yale.

Before its theatrical release in the US, Manto will further be shown in Georgetown University, the University of California, Berkeley and University of Texas, Austin.

The film — which has earned rave reviews in the audience and critics alike — read widely all over the world and depicts the life of iconoclast Urdu short story writer Manto, work and whose life are discussed. The movie not only shows facets of Manto’s life but also brings some of his famous narratives like Khol Do, Thanda Gosht,Oopar Neeche aur Darmiyan and Toba Tek Singh.

Like the last screening the director Sarmad who plays with Manto in the picture will probably be present to answer questions raised by crowd members.
