Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will miss the World Cup qualifier against Paraguay in Argentina after aggravating a leg injury in his team’s shock 2-0 defeat by Ecuador.
Aguero passed a fitness test ahead of the match in Buenos Aires but hobbled away to be replaced by Carlos Tevez.
Trainer Gerardo Martino said the injury to his left leg meant he wouldn’t make the match in Asuncion.
“Aguero had a difficulty from his last game with City, where he played nicely for 65 minutes,” Martino told reporters following the match.”
“We looked after him this week, he was proceeding nicely, quite secure, however he felt the tension and sadly we’re likely to lose him.”
