Project! Pakistan Railways retrieves 987.074 acres encroached land
It truly is a continuous campaign which would continue till removal of encroachments, official sources told APP. They said the effort was being monitored Railway Headquarter, by Divisional Superintendents and at degree of Ministry of Railways.
The sources said first a comprehensive survey was carried out to identify railway property under unauthorized profession and in order to regain encroached land, anti-encroachment campaign was initiated.
Meanwhile, the sources said a comprehensive policy have been drawn to prevent further encroachments. This policy makes concerned Pakistan Railway officers/ officials and Railway Authorities officials collectively responsible in case of any new encroachment.
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and joint Process orders have since been issued for rigorous implementation of the policy.
The sources said during present campaign 1487 cases were filed and 1614 accused were detained. The cases are being trialed in courts. Furthermore, the sources said a project for computerization of Railway land record has been started to harmonize Railway acreage record with record of all Provincial Revenue Departments.
The work was awarded to Urban Wing and commenced on April 1, 2015 and is not unlikely to be finished by end of the year. This project, on completion will ensure safeguard of Railway land through a computerised monitoring system and depict total transparency in commercialisation and land management.
