REDESIGNED FLAG! New Zealand flag referendum set to reveal result
New Zealanders are waiting to learn if they are going to have new flag, as a referendum on whether to replace their present one draws to a close.
The present layout features a heritage of the days of New Zealand as a British colony, the British Union Flag as well as the motive many need to alter it. But opinion polls indicate change has been voted against by New Zealanders.
More than two million folks have cast a vote, a turnout of 61%, says New Zealand media.
The suggested new layout is known as Silver Fern.
It had been selected from a shortlist of five nominees last December in the initial phase of the referendum, itself selected with a panel from an extended list of 40. The long list was criticised for lacking imagination, featuring many similar layouts that were dramatic only in various colours.
