When gunshots rang out throughout a melee in a city resort area where hundreds had assembled to film a music video sixteen individuals were injured in New Orleans, authorities said.
The harms in the Ninth Ward neighborhood of the city’s were from gunshots in addition to other unspecified causes, police chief and the town ‘s mayor said during a press conference close to the scene. They said authorities had been on their way to disband the impromptu party, which wasn’t allowed, when several defendants – for motives that were unknown – started firing in the group.
Police chief Michael Harrison issued an urgent appeal for witnesses to come forward. “It is a classic case where reporters want citizens’ help,” Harrison said. “Folks understand who did this, folks were outside here.
We are not planning to stand for this.”
New Orleans’ Mayor Mitch Landrieu expressed indignation on the disregard for life shown by the shots.
“It is simply crazy to place the lives of this many innocent individuals at risk,” he said. “It is totally unnecessary plus it is got to stop.”
