Selena Gomez first stepout today after the death of Jake Bailey

On Friday, close buddy Jake Bailey and her makeup artist was found dead of an apparent suicide.

“It was kinda tough to go out tonight but I would do anything for @kystyle -she deserves the award of the night time at #InStyleAwards she makes us women feel beautiful always x,” Gomez wrote on her Instagram referring to her stylist Kate Young.

Gomez was one of many -studded client list, which likewise included Emmy Rossum, Katy Perry, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Ashley Benson and Nicole Richie.

“Gomez saw Bailey on the Sunday before,” Rossum told me last night at the InStyle event. “We rode together on a plane back from the Big Apple. It makes me extremely unhappy that I did not know just how much pain Bailey was in.”

Rossum talked about what she would always remember about Bailey. “Bailey’s humor and his kindness most,” she said. “And how Bailey would always text me in the morning and ask me if I desired a Starbucks and which drink did I desire because he knows I’ve a few favorites based on the season and what my mood is.”

Rossum tweeted after learning of Bailey’s passing, “If there are angels in paradise, they just got a little prettier… because Jake is up there painting their faces… putting lashes on them…”

A heartfelt homage was posted by Perry on Instagram. “I love you,” the “Firework” vocalist wrote, in part. “No more work, no more hunting, you are finally at peace. Each time I sit in that seat we shared, only understand, no one holds a brush to you personally, buddy. Be free. My prayers are with the Bailey family.”

The L.A. County Coroner’s office confirmed to E! News on Friday that Bailey was found in his car that morning by his assistant and authorities believe he died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
