Smiling and joyful: Both dead brothers before they were compelled to flee war torn Syria

Snuggling as much as a giant toy bear with grins across their faces, this image offers a glimpse of the joyful family life both of these lads once headed.

That wasn’t to be.

Syrian refugees Galip Kurdi, and his three-year old brother Aylan perished after their dinghy that was overcrowded sank attempting to get to the Greek island of Kos.

Galip and Aylan expired by using their mom, Rehan on the boat. Abdullah, their father, lived. The sister of Abdullah remembers how he called relatives following the event and was not just unable to say ‘My lovely wife and two boys are not alive.’

Now, the household of both brothers spoke out saying that after Canada refused to let them in, they’d decided to take the boat.

‘I heard the news in this morning at five,’ Teema Kurdi told National Post.
