At least five people are injured following an enormous gas explosion rocked a residential building in central Paris, French media said.

Local residents have apparently been evacuated. Police sources confirmed to AFP it was a gas explosion. Fire fighters and ambulances have already been deployed to the scene. “We heard a loud explosion and saw smoke,” two pupils from Ferrandi school told AFP.”

People were frightened, they considered that it had been a bomb,” a school worker included.”I felt my flooring shake and heard a loud noise, then it smelled like smoke outside,” Jenna Binion, an area resident, told the Local, “There are plenty of men and women in the roads and I could hear lots of sirens.”The blast apparently took place not far from the Montparnasse area, to the left bank of the Seine.It Is in the 6th administrative district of the French capital, near Ferrandi college.

Plumes of smoke is visible in pictures and videos posted on Twitter.

The Paris authorities press office told Sputnik the reason for the explosion “was a house fire.”

Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton rebuked defended and Republicans Nato in a counterterrorism address after fatal strikes in Brussels.

Her remarks contrasted with her Republican counterparts, specifically Donald Trump, that has proposed scaling back US commitments.

Mrs Clinton said the US and Arab partners should consult intensely and stand with Europe.

America must not turn its back she said during remarks at Stanford University in California, and dissing them isn’t an effective way to resist terrorism.

Mr Trump’s calls to reinstate using torture and water boarding to glean advice from those were addressed by her.

Dozens of men and women remain in intensive care following Tuesday’s suicide bomb attacks in Brussels that left 31 people dead, Belgium’s health minister says.

Maggie de Block said that of about 300 individuals that are wounded, 61 were in a critical state, and implied the death toll could climb further.

Earlier, prosecutors affirmed they had identified two of the four attackers as brothers Khalid and Brahim el-Bakraoui.

Two other attackers have not yet been named.

Brahim el-Bakraoui blew up himself while Khalid struck at Maelbeek metro, in the attack at Zaventem airport that killed 11 people, where 20 people died, prosecutors said.

Unconfirmed reports say another of the attackers was the desired jihadist Najim Laachraoui, who’s believed to have links with the attacks of last year in Paris.

EU interior and justice ministers are expected to hold a crisis meeting in Brussels to discuss their response to the bombings.

A suicide bomber struck first near the American Airlines desk at Brussels airport, with local media reporting that shots were fired amid shouting in Arabic.The explosion on the Metro was close European Union buildings as well as the US embassy.

Two explosions have been reported in Brussels in the departures area of Zaventem airport.

Local media there were at least several wounded and dead was told by the Belgian fire service.

The origin of the explosions is unknown. The airport is being evacuated and has really been closed to flights.
The blasts come in November subsequent to the capture in Brussels the primary defendant in the Paris strikes, of Salah Abdeslam.

Pictures on social media revealed smoke rising amid reports of panic as people fled the airport, from among the buildings.

Rail transport to the facility has been prevented.

Other reports say at least one explosion was close to the American Airlines check-in place but this hasn’t been confirmed.

The Belgian broadcaster RTBF quoted as saying there were people injured or unconscious, a witness in the departure area, opposite the Sheraton hotel.

Niels Caignau, a Swissport worker, told Flemish broadcaster VRT: “I was on a rest and heard and felt a huge explosion – we’ve from here a view over the departure hall and saw a plume of smoke come out.

“The windows are entirely shattered. Folks went outside in shock. It does not appear good.”
