A young Pakistani woman died on Tuesday for refusing his marriage proposal after a rejected suitor set her ablaze, a doctor said.

Sonia Bibi, 20, was admitted to hospital last month, where she told cops that her former lover Latif Ahmed had doused her with petrol and set her alight after his proposition was turned down by her.

Medical staff had initially said she’d recover, however a doctor in Multan’s Nishtar hospital told AFP that Bibi’s injuries had become infected and that she died on Tuesday.

About 45 to 50 per cent of Bibi’s body was burned in the strike, physician Naheed Chaudhry, the head of the hospital’s burns department told AFP.

The episode happened in central Punjab state in a remote village of Multan district. Police have arrested the 24-year old suspect.

Bibi had told authorities that she’d fallen out of love with Ahmed, and preliminary investigations indicated he had set her on fire “after she refused to marry him”.

Hundreds of women are killed in Pakistan each year in cases of domestic violence or about the grounds of defending family “honour”.

The Aurat Foundation, a campaign group that works to enhance the lives of girls in Pakistan, says more than 3,000 girls have been killed in such attacks since 2008.

Jeremy Corbyn should have appointed a woman to one of the top shadow ministerial jobs, the leader of the country’s biggest union has said.

Len McCluskey, the general secretary of the Unite union which backed Mr Corbyn in the leadership contest, said he was concerned about dearth of top occupations for women in Mr Corbyn’s shadow Cabinet.

Mr McCluskey told The Telegraph: “I was slightly concerned that a woman was not in one of the top jobs – I think it might be a mistake but putting Angela (Eagle) in as first secretary may have balanced that.”

“But there are more than 50 per cent of women in the Cabinet. I think it is an interesting Cabinet and we will wait to see where it takes us. Give the man at least a week.”

Mr Corbyn is under fire for not giving a female MP among the historic top jobs in Leader: the shadow Cabinet, shadow Home Secretary, shadow Foreign Secretary or shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer.

This apparently innocent photo was uploaded by a girl to her Facebook accounts – and Reddit went into crisis.

The picture, in what is apparently student accommodation of two young women, continues to be seen more than a million times since it was posted before today.

And a closer look at the snapshot, uploaded to Imgur below the name ‘Pal only uploaded this to Facebook…’ discloses why.

Underneath the picture, the original poster says: “I wonder what her relatives are thinking right now?”

Lemesplain posted: “A tiger poster? Why would you even think abo- ohhh.”

Chrizzlephaa added: “Is that modern mistletoe?”

Freakshow198 quipped: “Looks like it was taken at the second hand store.”

And Tony the Tard said: “It’s a handshake practicer. For those elaborate handshakes the urban youth are so fond of.”
