Tesla updates software after China HACK their operating system

Tesla has upgraded its applications after researchers from China hacked into the operating system of its electric cars.

The team from Keen Security Lab remotely manipulated the brake system on a Tesla while it was on the move, from a distance of 12 miles (19km).

Using a notebook, the hackers also managed to open a car door without using a key.

Tesla has upgraded its applications to prevent anyone else from manipulating its autos.

While someone else was behind the wheel during the experiment a hacker took control of a vehicle from the passenger seat.

Using a notebook, he managed to fix the rear-view mirror while the driver was switching lanes. The hacker also managed to open the luggage compartment remotely, while the automobile was on the move.

This hack is noteworthy for two reasons.

And two, the absolute number of control it can wrest from the motorist is outstanding – all sorts, brake system, windscreen wipers.

The good news is the security community is so far rising to the challenge of protecting cars. This hack was found before going public by research workers who, as they should, went directly.

Tesla’s cars are not unable to get over-the-air upgrades, meaning the engineers of Tesla can automatically rectify the vulnerability in its automobiles without needing motorists needing to see a car dealer.

And that’s just what the firm has done.
