Pakistan were locked in a three way conflict with Bangladesh and West Indies for the final place of the Champions Trophy, but edged the Caribbean side out in Sri Lanka in July after an ODI series win.

The eight sides to play in the brief 2017 occasion to be sponsored by England are (in ranks sequence): world champion Australia, title holder India, 1998 victor South Africa, 2000 champ New Zealand, 2002 co-victor Sri Lanka, host England, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Bangladesh will go back for the very first time since 2006.

Bangladesh has replaced the West Indies, which can miss involvement in the Champions Trophy for the very first time in the history of the tournament and ended in ninth place outside the top eight.

The 2017 Champions Trophy will probably be a 15-match tournament, together with the top two teams in each group progressing to the semi finals, with teams divide into two groups of four.
