Thirty abducted civilians kidnapped and killed by IS in Afghanistan

Thirty people are kidnapped and killed by militants linked to so-called Islamic State group in the Ghor province of Afghanistan, officials told the BBC.

The provincial authorities said the civilians were abducted as they collected firewood in the mountains.

They were shot dead when local folks attempted to save them.

IS has been gaining some support in some areas is challenging the Taliban and in Afghanistan.

Kids were comprised by the dead civilians, Ghor Governor Nasir Khazeh told AFP news agency.

The Taliban and IS have been locked in regular conflicts in Afghanistan.

A serious challenge is being faced by the Taliban’s dominance in a region home to numerous local and foreign militant groups from IS.

There has also been evidence that IS is attempting to recruit Taliban fighters, with several Taliban commanders declaring allegiance.
