The films of British director John Guillermin, whose, has died aged 89.

The Towering Inferno won three Oscars and starred Faye Dunaway, Steve McQueen, William Holden and Paul Newman.

He died at his house in the Topanga Canyon section of La on Sunday, his buddy Nick Redman supported.
Produced to French parents in London, Guillermin attended the University of Cambridge.

His career directing started in France -making. He went to Hollywood to study filmmaking techniques.
