Facebook has altered some of the procedures it uses for its “Trending Themes” section after it was accused of stamping down conservative views.

Facebook said it will cease looking to a modest list of news outlets like Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal and Drudge Report to automatically nominate issues because of its trending characteristic – and improve staff training.

The business’s announcement comes after an internal investigation into bias in the selection of news stories for the section, which will be different from your main News Feed.

Before this month, a former Facebook contractor accused of intentionally suppressing traditional news the business’s editors.

The allegations were reported by technology news website Gizmodo, which did not identify the ex-contractor.
