In his speech in Cleveland, Ohio accepting the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump has vowed to tackle multiple threats facing the US.

“The crime and violence that now afflicts our nation will soon come to a finish,” he told the party convention.

The businessman assured a fresh era putting America and common individuals first would be ushered in by his presidency.

The refusal of major party figures like Senator Ted Cruz has clouded the nomination of Mr Trump to back him.

Other Trump opponents such as members of the Bush family stayed from the convention completely.

A Ny businessman who was written off when he launched his effort this past year, Mr Trump, said he hoped his speech merge the party and would ease tensions.
