Whitbread sales boosted by Premier Inn and Costa

Whitbread, the resort and restaurant group that includes Premier Inn, Brewers Fayre, Beefeater, and Costa Coffee, has reported a 3.3% rise in like-for-like second quarter sales, and overall sales up 11.1%. Premier Inn grew total revenue by 11.6% in the interval. Costa world-wide sales were up by 16.2%.

LONDON–Whitbread PLC (WTB.LN) said it’s on course to fulfill its earnings targets for the present fiscal year subsequent to the owner of Premier Inn resorts and Costa coffee shops turned in improved sales in the next quarter.

Restaurant and resort sales climbed 3.2% on a comparable basis, with sales at Costa up 4.0%.

“We are continuing to deliver our ambitious organic growth plans with another good quarter,” said Chief Executive Andy Harrison.

“Our first-half performance keeps us on track to deliver full-year expectations, as well as our ambitious growth milestones,” Mr. Harrison said.

Whitbread intends to start around 5,500 U.K. rooms, around 220 web new Costa shops globally and to install 700800 new Costa Express machines, the firm said. Complete interim results are slated for launch Oct. 20.
