WHY SO? Censor Board recommends 40 CUTS for Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Udta Punjab!

Udta Punjab‘s troubles with Censor Board are getting worse by the day!

We have learnt now the Board has advocated 40 cuts for the movie after we had reported that Censor Board is just not enabling the movie to pass thanks to the excessive swearing in the movie, along with visuals of drug abuse. If these reductions are agreed to by the manufacturers, then only will the Board allow to pass the film!

40 cuts! Regardless of what Amitabh Bachchan must say in this issue, that Censor Board works under the regulations of government, we ca’t consent for the fact that a film that is certainly deemed to get an Adult rating need to have so many cuts! These transitions will apply to scenes where swear words are used, where Shahid Kapoor who plays with a drug addicted rockstar, is revealed using materials and also scenes. Odd, for a movie that is about drug abuse that is rampant, the folks does’t want them to reveal these scenes!

Last heard, the producer of the film, Anurag Kashyap (who, of course, is Censor Board’s favourite stepchild!) has appealed to the tribunal together with the I&B Ministry to get this solved asap! Nevertheless, we certainly do not expect the picture to go transition-free by the end of all these matters. It’s really stressing that films like Udta Punjab that have this kind of strong social content has to face these dilemmas. Substance abuse in Punjab is a point of discussion during several election campaigns, and is fairly a notorious question, so the makers have the guts to handle on the issue heads on!
