Woah!! Miss World 2015: Contestants raise £27,000 in charity gala

The site of the 65th annual Miss World contest in Sanya, China, saw beauty queens as the contestants helped raise funds assembling for a cause. The occasion is a conventional element of the yearly pageant.

During the Miss World charity gala occasion, each contestant brings with her a unique present, whether personalised painting or a keepsake that is precious in the state she represents. The thing is sold for a decent cause. As of this year’s gala, presents from all 117 contestants brought in over $40,000 (GBP27,000).The overall sum includes cash raised through raffle and ticket sales of the charity event as well. All net income of the charity gala will go to Sanya Orphanage the Miss World office said. Kids of the orphanage, which nurtures and houses over 60 orphaned youth, started the event it said.

A few of the things brought by Miss World contestants that have been sold this year contained a variety of signed memorabilia brought by Miss Jamaica, several one of a kind artworks and ethnic symbols. Dignitaries including lots of former winners of the pageant, grandson of Nelson Mandela, and Chief Mandela attended the occasion.

“I ‘m so happy that with a single present, I’ve helped to empower the lives of others,” she said.

The Miss World 2015 ending will likely be held on 19. A collection of the year’s auction presents will be put up for offering online following the pageant finishes. All profits in the auction online will visit charity works of the victor of Beauty with a Purpose group, the organisation said.
