Lake Syamozero: Children die after storm catches boating group

Fourteen individuals, mainly children, died when a boating party was got by a thunderstorm in the Karelia area of northern Russia.

The kids were on vacation from Moscow, and Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has sent shrinks and physicians.

Four individuals are detained on suspicion of security breaches.

“A great tragedy has occurred in Karelia,” the mayor tweeted.

“My condolences to their families and friends.”
