President Barack Obama has said the US is “not even close” to where it must take bridging the divide between authorities and the communities they serve.

He said more must be done to establish trust among black and Hispanic individuals that authorities violence would be investigated correctly.

Mr Obama was talking after assembly activists, politicians and law enforcement officers in Washington.

It follows recent killings of black men by policemen in Minnesota and Louisiana.

The killings activated a reprisal attack last week by a black military veteran who shot dead five police officers in the town of Dallas.
