Now the most recent preview for along-awaited seventh film in the Star Wars saga indicates they’ll shortly be back in each others arms.
A fleeting opportunity gave the very first glimpse of 58-year-old Carrie Fisher – who last appeared as Princess Leia three decades past – locked within an embrace with Harrison Ford, 73.
But much of the excitement focused on the British celebrity John Boyega, 23, who features extensively in the two-minute clip Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
Born and raised in Peckham, the son was best known until now for his film debut in the 2011 horror-humor Attack where he played with the leader of a gang terrorising a South London council estate.
He has previously said his biggest challenge isn’t to do “urban films” for the remainder of his life.
His wish seems to have already been allowed by director JJ Abrams, that has cast him alongside another young rising British star, 23-year old Daisy Ridley.
Supporters pointed out that one important absence from the trailer was Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, who’ll appear in the movie, but hasn’t yet been seen in just about any promotional material.
The Force Awakens doesn’t open until December 17 in New Zealand, but tickets went on sale this week – from fans crashing film websites.
