Yesterday Rajinikanth was in Mumbai for 2.0 first look launch. The event turned out to be quite a star studded affair with Salman Khan deciding to drop by to catch up with Thalaiva. And it turned out that Akshay Kumar, Salman and Rajini sir made this event a memorable one for the media folks. Of course it would have been a gala event had Shah Rukh Khan and Kamal Haasan not ditched it. But despite SRK and Kamal Haasan not turning up the launch was a super hit. Here are seven moments from the mega event that cannot be missed….
#The UNINVITED guest: Salman Khan would like us to believe that despite his super hectic schedule he just dropped by at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai to meet Rajini gaaru. The actor gushed about the original superhero and insisted that he was not invited. He also reminisced a moment from one of their shows abroad where Rajinikanth was trying out his trademark cigarette move and how he aced it on an open stage despite windy weather.
The terrific combo: Salman also said that he would love to work in a film with Rajinikanth. The megastar was quick to admit that he would be game for any project that Salman would give his nod too. Clearly there was a mutual admiration club here and we hope that the duo actually collaborate for a film. Just imagine what it would be like!
#Akshay sidelined: Most paparazzi went on an overdrive after seeing Salman take the centre stage. Many even argued how Akshay was the hero of the film and not Salman who stood right in the centre. Not that Akshay minded standing on a side next to Rajinikanth. In fact, Akshay himself seemed more comfortable staying at an arm’s distance as he sandwiched Amy Jackson between him and the Tubelight hero.
#The only rising star: Salman Khan and Akshay both were impeccably behaved. Khan acknowledged Akshay’s accomplishments and paid him one of the best compliments ever. Salman even went on to state that the only actor from his times to have had growth in acting career graph is Akki. Of course Akshay thanks Salman in his own way when he took the centre stage later.
#Akshay is the star: Rajinikanth too could not stop going ga-ga about his film’s villain. While Akshay revealed how he had never worn so much makeup for any of his films in 25 years, he said that this one film compensated for all these years. The Thalaiva declared Akshay as the real star of 2.0.
#Salman takes a dig at Karan Johar: Karan Johar was the host and as usual the filmmaker ended up becoming the butt of Salman’s joke on stage. Salman quipped in his inimitable style and quizzed KJo on why he doesn’t make special films like Shankar. Of course Karan was a sport and took this dig in his stride. Now we all know that Karan and Salman share a very friendly bond. In fact Salman will be sipping coffee with his brothers Sohail and Arbaaz Khan on Koffee With Karan season 5.
#Rajinikanth’s rapid fire debut: Well, Rajini sir might not make it to Karan’s popular chat show and so we were not one bit surprised when Karan decided to bring his rapid fire quiz at the 2.0 launch. Of course Rajinikanth did it his way and marked his rapid fire debut at the event.
